Butter Street Retreat is minutes from both the Crest of the Blue Ridge Wine Country and Tryon Foothills Wine Country. Both are designated as American Viticultural Areas (AVA), the same prestigious federal recognition as Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Our close proximity to the Crest of the Blue Ridge and Tryon Foothills puts several highly rated wineries within 30-40 minutes of Butter Street Retreat.
Bodega Noir – 7 minute drive – 102 W Coleman St, Landrum, SC – A hip lounge and wine bar with large wine selection, beer on tap & by the bottle/can, cozy seating. Live music and food trucks on Mondays, most weekends. See their Facebook and instagram for weekly events. Open later than most area restaurants! Pets welcome.
Mountain Brook Vineyard – 24 minute drive – This vineyard is one of our favorites. Their grounds are beautiful and spread out, offering private tours in a country setting with mountain views. Their recently remodeled outdoor spaces and tasting room feature several flight boards as well as customizeable charcuterie boards. 731 Phillips Dairy Rd, Tryon, NC
Parker-Binns Vineyard – 24 minute drive – One of the few wineries offering a delicious food menu! Indoor tasting room, bonfire area, live music. 2275 Whiteside Rd, Mill Spring, NC
Point Lookout Vineyards – 43 minute drive – This vineyard boasts incredible panoramic scenic views from the top of Point Lookout Mountain. 408 Appleola Rd, Hendersonville, NC
Overmountain Vineyards – 21 minute drive – Beautiful setting, delicious wine! 2012 Sandy Plains Rd #8799, Tryon, NC
Tryon Bottle– 4 minute drive – 15 S Trade St, Tryon NC – This family-owned shop offers a large selection of local wine and beer, both to-go and to enjoy here. Tryon’s open container ordinance allows you to take along your beverage as you stroll to other shops in town.

Let them take care of the driving as you and your group enjoy all our area has to offer. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a beverage while you travel safely to your destinations. (Van in Black is a legitimate “For Hire” vehicle in NC, and passengers can legally have open containers inside vehicles.)

Great beer selection, with AMAZING crafted drinks by their award winning bartender. Specializing in traditional BBQ with a Louisiana Cajun/Creole twist. We enjoy their smoked meat platters, shrimp n grits, and trying new things from their daily specials. Chef Sarah McClure is known for her inventive dishes, delicious flavor combinations, appearing multiple times on the Food Network.

Local brewery located in an old converted prison. Large craft beer selection brewed there, outdoor and indoor spaces, frequent live music, plus an outstanding food menu.
The Southern Growl – 29 minutes – 155 N Buncombe Rd, Greer, SC
One of our family favorites! Very large selection – 60 taps featuring a wide range of house crafted beers, plus ciders, wine, and cocktails brewed in house. Their craft food menu is rotated seasonally and everything we’ve tried was delicious. Great for a date night, hang out spot, watching a game, or bringing the family. Kids, and pets welcome – they have a large outdoor yard and covered patio!
